It enables young people of Halton to be involved in the local democratic process.
Q. What is the aim of the Uk Youth Parliament?
It is the UKYP’s aim that all young people in the UK will be aware that they have their own Youth Parliament, and that providing they are aged between 11 and 18 years old (inclusive) they have the right to vote for an MYP (Member of the Youth Parliament), and the right to stand as an MYP if they so wish.
Q. How long does an MYP work for?
Each member of the parliament (MYP) serves for 12 months and is also involved in meetings with Government Ministers on issues like anti social behaviour, transport and the environment.
Q. How many MYP's do we have in this country?
There are currently more than 400 elected MYP's representing young men and women including people from a variety of ethnic backgrounds and people with physical and learning disabilities.

Q. This is fine, but no one listens to me or other young people?
The UKYP is made up of young people from all over the UK, and it is a body that is listened to by government and local councils. Young people as MYPs present ideas and these go directly to the people who make the decisions of what to do to make life better for young people
